About Me

Meet Remi Turner—a multimedia storyteller with specific interests in culture and life and style reporting.

Turner is a native upstate New Yorker and current Syracuse University graduate student in The Newhouse School of Public Communications Magazine, News & digital Journalism program.

When's she not in class, you can find her scouring the racks at a local thrift store or throwing a fresh slab of clay on the wheel.

Turner is an assistant copy editor for The Daily Orange and producer for the NewsHouse. She has communications skills beyond reporting, including public relations experience managing social media pages for the University of Miami's student-run magazine, Distraction. Turner also served as a copywriter for Orange Umbrella UMiami's on-campus advertising agency.

Her passion for investigate journalism is evident in articles like "Where do I start" a piece on LGBTQ+ SU students feeling a disconnect from greater resources in the area.

Post graduation, Turner aims work in the New York City-based journalism industry. Her lifelong dream is to land an editing position with New York Magazine or Interview Magazine.

While swinging around the monkey bars of the concrete jungle, Turner also plans on pursuing freelance creative writing, including historical fiction novels and poetry chapbooks.
